Privacy Policy
What this version of VODV collects, what becomes public, and how to contact the station about your information.
Effective September 30, 2026
Who this notice covers
This notice describes the VODV Radio website and installed web app operated for Voice of Da Voiceless. It covers listeners, supporters, callers and hosts. Use Contact & reports for privacy questions or requests; messages there go privately to the host inbox.
Information you provide
Supporter registration collects your name, email, phone number, password and optional email-update choice. Passwords are stored as salted hashes rather than readable passwords. Requests, shout-outs and board posts include your chosen on-air name, text, submission time and review status. Voice messages also include an uploaded recording. Contact reports include your name, reply email, topic and message.
Sessions and technical information
Essential cookies identify guest, supporter and host sessions. The app associates messages and participation points with a session or account. Host sessions expire after approximately 12 hours; guest and supporter sessions after approximately 30 days. Expiration ends session access and does not itself delete saved submissions or account records. Abuse prevention uses hashed network-address identifiers and temporary attempt counters. Hosting and network providers may process connection and operational logs.
Microphone and live audio
The browser asks permission before microphone access. A microphone test stays on your device until you join or send a recording. Voice submissions are uploaded when you send them. Live calls exchange audio and connection information with connected participants, using a Google-operated STUN connection service. Peer-to-peer calls may reveal network-address information to the connection service and peers. During a live segment, approved connected voices can enter the public broadcast. Short broadcast audio chunks are stored for playback; the app’s cleanup removes chunks older than about two minutes as broadcast activity runs. This is not an immediate deletion guarantee when the station is inactive.
What is public and what stays in the host inbox
Host-approved written posts and their on-air names can appear on the public board. Live segments are publicly audible. Voice recordings are available in the host inbox rather than on the public board, although submitted audio may be shared on air. Supporter contact details and Contact & reports submissions are not public board content. Authorized hosts can access these records for station administration.
How information is used and shared
VODV uses information to operate accounts and sessions, deliver audio, moderate submissions, manage supporters, respond to inquiries and prevent misuse. Optional station email updates depend on your opt-in. The app does not include advertising trackers or a data-sale feature. Hosting, storage and live-connection services necessarily process data to provide their services. If a host configures an external stream, that provider receives your connection when you play it. External links and device sharing apps operate under their own policies. Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law.
Cookies and installation storage
The app uses essential session cookies and caches its logo, app icons and offline help through a service worker. It does not download the music library for offline listening. You can clear site data, remove the installed app or block cookies in your browser; doing so may sign you out or disconnect guest history and points. This version has no optional analytics or advertising cookie controls because those trackers are not included in the app.
Retention and security
Supporter accounts, submissions and contact inquiries remain in station storage unless removed through station administration; there is no automatic deletion schedule for these records in this version. Access controls separate host information from public listening, but no online service can promise perfect security. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, government ID numbers or other highly sensitive information in a station message.
Your choices and requests
You can choose not to register, decline optional updates, mute or leave a call, and revoke microphone permission in browser settings. Use Contact & reports to request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of email-update permission. Include the account email or enough context to locate your contribution without sending a password. Requests require host review and may require identity verification; they are not automatic. Applicable law may provide additional rights or require retention of some records. Removing station content cannot erase broadcasts already heard or copies independently made by others.
Children and updates
Account and submission features are not intended for children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information should contact the station to request review and removal. Changes to these practices will be reflected in this notice and its effective date.
